My Weekend Crush

You know sometimes after a long, busy, tiring, crazy week it takes a little while before you can settle into your weekend. Like the stress of the past five days hangs over you like a cloud and your shoulders don’t unclench until like Sunday morning and that’s only after your friends force-feed you two mimosas at brunch because, dude, it’s the weekend and you need to totally chillax. Nope, neither do I. Also, who still says chillax? I’m actually amazingly good at leaving the ridiculousness of the week behind me. Call it vestigial last-bell reflex where the my Pavlovian response to the end of the day is to throw my bag in the air and run away screaming “Freeeee!” But in my head. Usually. Anyway, that’s a really long set-up to say, I hope you guys all have a weekend as awesome and carefree as this policewoman’s. This Sydney officer knows how to let loose. (Things get good at the one-minute mark.) Police were there to check out the scene at a youth center fundraiser. And this officer decided to serve, protect and boogie. Screw dancing like no one is watching. Dance like you know everyone is watching and you don’t have a single fuck to give. Happy weekend, all.

p.s. Also, no one call me this weekend. I’m busy mainlining the rest of “Orange Is the New Black.” So good I totally stayed up until 3 a.m. last night watching.

Purple Monday

May this Monday be a good start of the week. I'm already sensing the whirlwind situation is gonna hit the course the working days again, but I'm ready to face it at full head on. To start the week I try to inject a sense of color to the wardrobe coz color is always synonymous for creating an optimistic outlook for anything. Hence, purple became the choice. It's the color of royalty. Regal. The purple shirt is paired with the light grey suit jacket, both by River Island and matching tie by Cedarwood @ Primark. Completing the ensemble is watch by Simon Carter and boots by Gucci.Could this be a challenging working week again? Think so...*IMO, Apple really need to do something on the color reproduction of the iPhone camera (esp the front-facing). The purple is 'singing' blue in the second pix. I know it's Monday, but the color should stay true, eh?

Bobby Vee goes on stage with gets tribute from Bob Dylan in St. Paul.

"The young Dylan once played several concerts as part of Vee’s band in the Fargo, N.D., area well before both hit it big."The 72-year-old [Bob Dylan] told the crowd he has gone on to share stages with everyone from Mick Jagger to Madonna, but he said Vee is one of the most powerful performers he has played with.Dylan then asked for a round of applause for Vee, whom he said was in attendance, before covering Vee's “Suzie Baby.”Vee is younger than Bob Dylan — he's 70 — but he has Alzheimer's disease. You can listen to Vee's old recording of "Suzie Baby" here. It has a bizarrely long, lush intro. From the Wikipedia article on Vee:Vee's career began amid tragedy. On "The Day the Music Died" (February 3, 1959), the three headline acts in the line-up of the traveling 'Winter Dance Party'—Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper—were killed, along with 21-year-old pilot Roger Peterson, in the crash of a 1947 Beechcraft Bonanza v-tailed aircraft (registration #N3974N) near Clear Lake, Iowa, while en route to the next show on the tour itinerary in Moorhead, Minnesota. Velline, then aged 15, and a hastily-assembled band of Fargo, North Dakota, schoolboys calling themselves The Shadows volunteered for and were given the unenviable job of filling in for Holly and his band at the Moorhead engagement. Their performance there was a success, setting in motion a chain of events that led to Vee's career as a popular singer. The 2 Bobby Vee songs I remember hearing on the radio the most back in the old days were: "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes" and "Take Good Care of My Baby." The first one has a really crazy video, which I've blogged about before:CORRECTION: Sorry, Vee didn't go onto the stage, but was in the audience, when Dylan talked about him and played his old song.

Mi amigo no pudo comprenderme.
